History
Triple I was established in 1986 by business partners Gary Harding and Malcolm Jackson under the name Illawarra Industrial Instrumentation (III) based in Wollongong, in the Illawarra region of NSW. With many years experience in process engineering and instrumentation, they began providing process control and instrument solutions and service to the local heavy industrial companies in the area. As demand grew for local companies to provide more technical solutions, Triple i started using electrical installation contractors to complement the business.
In 1991, Triple I began providing control solutions based on the Yokogawa DCS platform as well as using PLC’s. The electrical business had also grown so an electrical construction division was started to enable better control and outcomes for projects. There was also an increasing requirement to provide instrument and control hardware, so a separate Sales division was started and Triple i were now able to provide more turnkey solutions for control and automation projects.
The control engineering business continued to grow with more PLC and SCADA solutions being delivered and over this time the company had diversified into several industries including Mining, Steel, Water/Wastewater, Chemical, Oil & Gas, Energy and other Manufacturing.
In 2015, III started a Mechanical services section to complement the Control Engineering and Electrical parts of the business to offer a more complete solution to customers. At the same time, it was decided to rebrand the company as it provided much more than just Instrumentation and because the company had been known for so long as III, the name “Triple i” was formally incorporated and became the new name of the company.
In 2015, Triple i also became a Recognised System Integrator for Rockwell Automation, specializing in process control, functional safety and factory automation.
Today, Triple I continues to provide services and solutions for the Process Automation, Electrical, Instrument and Mechanical needs of its customers throughout Australia and has also diversified into related areas such as Functional Safety, EEHA (Hazardous Area Equipment), IIoT Solutions, Asset Management, Process Improvement and Plant Services (which includes maintenance, calibrations, equipment audits, reliability, compliance and sustainability reviews).
